Learn how to get paid time off, when you are an hourly associate at Walmart.

What is Walmart PTO?



PTO stands for ‘Paid Time Off’. Walmart has recently rolled out a new PTO system, simply called ‘Walmart PTO’.

With the help of the PTO program, associates can plan holidays, events, and enter sick days easily  in the system. Walmart employees can also turn the unused PTO time into cash.

Walmart PTO Eligibility.

Please be aware that some employees associates have special PTO policies:

Temporary associates do not earn PTO, generally.

Global eCommerce associates, Part-time logistics associates, Healthcare professional associates, Doctors of Optometry and Vision Center Managers have their own unique PTO plans.

Where can I check my Walmart PTO Balance?

You can check your PTO balance by logging in to the GTA Portal on Walmart Wire (In-store). You cannot access PTO through the WalmartOne.com website.

Walmart PTO – How may hours do I have to work to earn an hour of PTO?

This is how long part-time-and full-time associates need to work to accrue an earned PTO hour:

Walmart Part time Associates:

0-1 years of employment: 43.33 hours worked = 1 PTO hour earned, 48 hours maximum.

2 years of employment: 20 hours worked= 1 PTO hour earned, 104 hours maximum.

3-5 years of employment: 20 hours worked = 1 PTO hour earned, 104 hours maximum.

6-9 years of employment: 20 hours worked = 1 PTO hour earned, 104 hours maximum.

10-14 years of employment: 20 hours worked = 1 PTO hour earned, 104 hours maximum.

15-19 years of employment: 20 hours worked = 1 PTO hour earned, 104 hours maximum.

20+ years of employment: 14.44 hours worked= 1 PTO hour earned, 144 hours maximum.

Walmart Full-Time Associates:

0-1 years  of employment: 17.3 hours = 1 PTO hour earned. 120 maximum.

2 years of employment: 15.3 hours = 1 PTO hour earned, 136 maximum.

3-5 years of employment: 11.8 hours = 1 PTO hour earned, 176 maximum.

6-9 years of employment: 10 hours = 1 PTO hour earned, 208 maximum.

10-14 years of employment: 9.3 hours = 1 PTO hour earned, 224 maximum.

15-19 years of employment: 7.9 hours = 1 PTO hour earned, 264 maximum.

20+ years of employment: 6.8 hours = 1 PTO hour earned, 304 maximum.

Walmart PTO Cash-Out.

Employees can now choose to earn extra cash for their accrued PTO hours, instead of using them on holidays.

Automatic PTO cash out is available for full-time hourly employees with a PTO balance of minimum 80 hours, and for part-time associates with a minimum 48 hours.
